Summary (by Goodreads)

Ever the Divided. Ever the Feared. Ever the Brave.
After saving King Aodren with her newfound Channeler powers, Britta only wants to live a peaceful life in her childhood home. Unfortunately, saving the King has created a tether between them she cannot sever, no matter how much she'd like to, and now he's insisting on making her a noble lady. And there are those who want to use Britta’s power for evil designs. If Britta cannot find a way to harness her new magical ability, her life—as well as her country—may be lost.

The stakes are higher than ever in the sequel to Ever the Hunted, as Britta struggles to protect her kingdom and her heart.

I'm afraid I have fallen WAY behind on my reading as Ever the Hunted is still on my phone to be read!  Ever the Brave comes out next week and I'm eager to get that started.  Hope there's still time to read book #1!!

Waiting on Wednesday - Renegades by Marissa Meyer

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine,  that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating or books that are in our TBR pile.  This week’s “can’t-wait-to-read” selection is

Summary (by Goodreads)

Secret Identities. Extraordinary Powers. She wants vengeance. He wants justice.

The Renegades are a syndicate of prodigies—humans with extraordinary abilities—who emerged from the ruins of a crumbled society and established peace and order where chaos reigned. As champions of justice, they remain a symbol of hope and courage to everyone...except the villains they once overthrew.

Nova has a reason to hate the Renegades, and she is on a mission for vengeance. As she gets closer to her target, she meets Adrian, a Renegade boy who believes in justice—and in Nova. But Nova's allegiance is to a villain who has the power to end them both.

I am happy to see Marissa Meyer back again after her success with the Lunar Chronicles series.  LOVED that one!  Now Renegades releases next week and I am just as eager to see what kind of world plot emerges.  Cool cover eh? A little Tron-like...

Explore the dark underworld of this kick-ass heroine to find out.

It has been a long time since I've done a Stacking the Shelves post. Mostly because I have been busy but also because I have put myself on a book-buying hiatus because I am out of bookshelf space.
So after some major weeding, I cleared some room and now I'm starting to collect my some of my favourite series.  The Throne of Glass series deserves some space and to start, I'm going back to the beginning. Not the beginning of the series publication date but the beginning of Celena's career as an assassin.  I have all of Sarah J Maas' books but many of them are in e-book format.  Because of my lack of shelf space, I only actually purchase titles that I know I will read again and again (or if I happen to get signed copies of great reads...they go up on the shelf as well).  One of these days, I'll get my act together and take a photo of my bookshelf to share.  One of these days....

Waiting on Wednesday - The Glass Spare by Lauren DeSefano

Summary (by Goodreads)

A banished princess.
A deadly curse.
A kingdom at war.

Wil Heidle, the only daughter of the king of the world’s wealthiest nation, has grown up in the shadows. Kept hidden from the world in order to serve as a spy for her father—whose obsession with building his empire is causing a war—Wil wants nothing more than to explore the world beyond her kingdom, if only her father would give her the chance.

Until one night Wil is attacked, and she discovers a dangerous secret. Her touch turns people into gemstone. At first Wil is horrified—but as she tests its limits, she’s drawn more and more to the strange and volatile ability. When it leads to tragedy, Wil is forced to face the destructive power within her and finally leave her home to seek the truth and a cure.

But finding the key to her redemption puts her in the path of a cursed prince who has his own ideas for what to do with her power.

With a world on the brink of war and a power of ultimate destruction, can Wil find a way to help the kingdom that’s turned its back on her, or will she betray her past and her family forever?

I haven't read anything by Lauren DeStefano since the Chemical Garden series but I think this is one I would be interested in.  Not sure about the cover though. From a distance it looks like a dragon fruit with pink barbs.  Maybe that could have been cleaned up a bit more but I'm aim to give it a shot because I like the author's writing style.  Your thoughts?

Summary (by Goodreads)

For the millions who log in every day, Warcross isn’t just a game—it’s a way of life. The obsession started ten years ago and its fan base now spans the globe, some eager to escape from reality and others hoping to make a profit. Struggling to make ends meet, teenage hacker Emika Chen works as a bounty hunter, tracking down players who bet on the game illegally. But the bounty hunting world is a competitive one, and survival has not been easy. Needing to make some quick cash, Emika takes a risk and hacks into the opening game of the international Warcross Championships—only to accidentally glitch herself into the action and become an overnight sensation.

Convinced she’s going to be arrested, Emika is shocked when instead she gets a call from the game’s creator, the elusive young billionaire Hideo Tanaka, with an irresistible offer. He needs a spy on the inside of this year’s tournament in order to uncover a security problem . . . and he wants Emika for the job. With no time to lose, Emika’s whisked off to Tokyo and thrust into a world of fame and fortune that she’s only dreamed of. But soon her investigation uncovers a sinister plot, with major consequences for the entire Warcross empire.

This title was actually released in September but I wanted to mention it because like many other readers, I have an interest in gaming. I don't game regularly but I do have an interest in it and I often come across many gamers who also read.  I have been waiting for a good cross-over for awhile.  Plus, Marie Lu is an awesome writer. :)

Waiting on Wednesday - Invictus by Ryan Graudin

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine,  that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating or books that are in our TBR pile.  This week’s “can’t-wait-to-read” selection is

Summary (By Goodreads)

Time flies when you're plundering history.

Farway Gaius McCarthy was born outside of time. The son of a time-traveling Recorder from 2354 AD and a gladiator living in Rome in 95 AD, Far's birth defies the laws of nature. Exploring history himself is all he's ever wanted, and after failing his final time-traveling exam, Far takes a position commanding a ship with a crew of his friends as part of a black market operation to steal valuables from the past.

But during a heist on the sinking Titanic, Far meets a mysterious girl who always seems to be one step ahead of him. Armed with knowledge that will bring Far's very existence into question, she will lead Far and his team on a race through time to discover a frightening truth: History is not as steady as it seems.

I really like the idea of this title. Messing with time is going to have some serious consequences though!  Another thing that I really like about title is that it is a standalone title according to the author.

Waiting on Wednesday - The Big F by Maggie Ann Martin

Summary (by Goodreads)

Danielle effed up. Big time.

Danielle’s plans for the future were all figured out…until she failed senior English and her single college application was rejected. Suddenly she’s in hot water with very few options, because, honestly, who applies to a safety school when your mom is a semi-famous “college psychic”?!

Determined to get her life back on track, Danielle enrolls in her hometown community college with a plan: pass her English class and get back into Ohio State—and her mother’s good graces. Romance isn’t on her radar. That is, until she reconnects with her childhood crush and golden boy next door, Luke.

Between family drama, first love, and finding her own way, Danielle can’t help but feel a little overwhelmed. Thankfully she has her friendship with the snarky and frustratingly attractive Porter, her coworker at the campus bookstore, to push her to experience new things and help keep her afloat.

One thing’s for sure: This time, failure is not an option.

OK, I have to be totally up front here and say that the main reason why I chose this book was because of it's cover. Looks like a lot of fun, doesn't it? The Big F came out in August but I wanted to share it with my followers anyway.
